Rob Taylor is Will Young

After leaving school with A-Levels in Music and Performing Arts, Rob Taylor's desire to make a career in the music industry led to an appearance on Jayne McDonald's Star For A Night. This was the springboard Rob needed for his future and led to experience with Edwin Starr and in 2004 a 4-year contract with Butlins as resident band singer.

After a year in Minehead the following three years were at their flagship site in Bognor Regis and through 2008 at Bunn Leisure's Selsey site. During this period Rob developed the complete range of production, arranging, technical and entertaining skills - incorporating choreography, pantomimes and tribute shows.

  • 2000 Jayne McDonalds 'Star For A Night'
  • 2001-2003 - General club work
  • 2004 Butlins - Minehead
  • 2005-2007 Butlins - Bognor Regis
  • 2008 Bunn Leisure - Selsey
  • 2009 - present - Freelance

What THE STAGE said about Rob:
Youthful, bouncy and bonny singer Rob Taylor opened with a Lemar song, which gave us a favourable impression of exactly what he could do vocally. Family holiday centre cabaret spots beckon for this young man, who is exactly the type of young image entertainer required. Taylor surprised us with his rendition of the Cole Porter jazz standard Night and Day. The sheer quality of the singing provides a solid foundation with which to build the remainder of a cabaret act upon.

What the California Ballroom said about Rob:
...this is Edwin Starr's band and they are probably the best soul outfit in this country. These guys were grinning from ear to ear from the moment they got on stage, they love playing together and playing this music and it shows. The energy that goes into it is amazing. They covered a number of Edwin's classics and then moved on to other soul hits. Roy Hemmings, who used to sing with the Drifters and trod the boards with them at the California, admits that he doesn't have Edwin's high range so they brought in a new singer [Rob] who regularly covers the soul gigs at the Butlins camps. He was superb. He has the voice and the pitch to cover songs like H.A.P.P.Y Radio and cover them well.

As Will Young, Rob is available with his own live band, with your own resident band - for which Rob has all of the arrangements and click tracks necessary - or with his own PA system and backing tracks.
